REPOST FROM SEPTEMBER 14, 2025
REPOSTING THIS FROM MY FACEBOOK PAGE DATED SEPTEMBER 14, 2025
(All scripture quoted is from the Holman Christian Standard Bible)
I’ve said this before, and I’m saying it again. This is not a political post. I don’t vote based on whether I like the candidate as a person, or if I think they are a “good person.” I vote on the platform, the values that form the basis for what they hope to accomplish if elected to office. And most importantly, my criteria is if their agenda is consistent with scripture. If we vote solely on individual personalities or political parties, we are missing the point.
My heart has been broken, my senses shocked, my faith encouraged, my conviction strengthened all from one event that happened last week. (9/10/2025) I had seen Charlie Kirk’s name on X (Twitter) but hadn’t really read or watched any of the posts. After I saw the video of him being shot, a sight that will stay in my brain for a while, I have watched several of his videos. The one I want to talk about here is one where the interviewer asked him how he wanted to be remembered. He said he wanted to be remembered for his faith in Christ Jesus.
Most of the news articles I have seen refer to him as a political activist. In the videos I watched he listened to everyone who asked a question, answered with knowledge and patience, but always pointed to Jesus and scripture. When I die, I don’t want my grandkids to say that Nanna made good homemade rolls, or played board games with us, or wouldn’t let them have their restaurant toy until they ate their meal. I want them to say that their Nanna loved Jesus, studied scripture and tried to love and serve others in the way that Jesus did, that Nanna wanted her whole life to be submitted to God. I also hope they will remember me making decisions based on scripture and not my own emotions or selfish reasons.
Some may call the following points political activism. I will stand firm that these are spiritual principles we must heed.
No matter how “bad” our sin is, God will forgive everyone who believes in the wonderful love He showed to us in Jesus’ substitutionary sacrificial death and accept His gift of redemptions. God’s love is not limited by the severity of our sin, or by nationality or race.
Romans 10:9-13
9 If you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 One believes with the heart, resulting in righteousness, and one confesses with the mouth, resulting in salvation. 11 Now the Scripture says, Everyone who believes on Him will not be put to shame, 12 for there is no distinction between Jew and Greek, since the same Lord of all is rich to all who call on Him. 13 For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.
It is our responsibility to share Jesus with others because we are all sinners justified by His grace in Christ Jesus. And when we accept that gift, He works in us to change us.
1 Corinthians 6:
9 Don’t you know that the unrighteous will not inherit God’s kingdom? Do not be deceived: No sexually immoral people, idolaters, adulterers, or anyone practicing homosexuality, 10 no thieves, greedy people, drunkards, verbally abusive people, or swindlers will inherit God’s kingdom. 11 And some of you used to be like this. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.
God created us in our mother’s womb and had a plan for us before we were born. God considers our life as His before we are forming within our mother’s uterus.
Psalm 139:13-16
For it was You who created my inward parts;
You knit me together in my mother’s womb.
14 I will praise You
because I have been remarkably and wonderfully made.
Your works are wonderful,
and I know this very well.
15 My bones were not hidden from You
when I was made in secret,
when I was formed in the depths of the earth.
16 Your eyes saw me when I was formless;
all my days were written in Your book and planned
before a single one of them began.
Jeremiah 1:4-5
4 The word of the Lord came to me:
5 I chose you before I formed you in the womb;
I set you apart before you were born.
I appointed you a prophet to the nations.
God created humans, male and female, in His image.
Genesis 1:27
So God created man in His own image;
He created him in the image of God;
He created them male and female.
Children need two parents who love them and teach them about God.
Deuteronomy 11:18-19
18 “Imprint these words of mine on your hearts and minds, bind them as a sign on your hands, and let them be a symbol on your foreheads. 19 Teach them to your children, talking about them when you sit in your house and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.
Ephesians 6:1-4
Children, obey your parents as you would the Lord, because this is right. 2 Honor your father and mother, which is the first commandment with a promise, 3 so that it may go well with you and that you may have a long life in the land. 4 Fathers, don’t stir up anger in your children, but bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord.
Marriage is a picture of our relationship with Jesus and must be kept pure.
Hebrews 11:4
4 Marriage must be respected by all, and the marriage bed kept undefiled, because God will judge immoral people and adulterers.
Sex between a husband and wife is blessed. Other sexual relationships are condemned.
Romans 1:26-27
26 This is why God delivered them over to degrading passions. For even their females exchanged natural sexual relations for unnatural ones. 27 The males in the same way also left natural relations with females and were inflamed in their lust for one another. Males committed shameless acts with males and received in their own persons the appropriate penalty of their error.
As Gentile believers, we are grafted into the vine, and Israel was temporarily broken off, but will be restored. We must remember that God made a covenant with Abraham, Issac, and Jacob.
Romans 11:23-31
23 And even they, if they do not remain in unbelief, will be grafted in, because God has the power to graft them in again. 24 For if you were cut off from your native wild olive and against nature were grafted into a cultivated olive tree, how much more will these—the natural branches—be grafted into their own olive tree?
25 So that you will not be conceited, brothers, I do not want you to be unaware of this mystery: A partial hardening has come to Israel until the full number of the Gentiles has come in. 26 And in this way all Israel will be saved, as it is written:
The Liberator will come from Zion;
He will turn away godlessness from Jacob.
27 And this will be My covenant with them
when I take away their sins.
28 Regarding the gospel, they are enemies for your advantage, but regarding election, they are loved because of the patriarchs, 29 since God’s gracious gifts and calling are irrevocable. 30 As you once disobeyed God, but now have received mercy through their disobedience, 31 so they too have now disobeyed, resulting in mercy to you, so that they also now may receive mercy.
These are all points I have heard Charlie Kirk made in the videos I have watched. This is not political activism. This is scriptural integrity.
Now concerning his death, we should not be surprised. I’m not saying that he was blameless. I know nothing about him except what I learned in the last 4 days. So basically nothing. But I know that he openly shared the importance of a relationship with God through Jesus Christ. And a younger generation was listening to him. Some were unwilling to hear what he was saying, but I have seen other videos since his death of young people telling how their lives were changed from the message he proclaimed. Evil does not like Truth. Evil people persecuted Old Testament prophets, early church leaders, and throughout history people have been killed because of their faith in Jesus.
So the question is, what should we do? I am praying that God will raise up many more young people who will unashamedly proclaim the salvation we can have in Jesus, and the importance of scripture in growing more like Him. I pray that I will be more bold in speaking Truth to those around me. I pray for an awakening, a revival, a miraculous manifestation of Christ’s power in our nation and our world. I pray for the people I know personally who do not have a personal relationship with Jesus.
I also pray for this young widow and mother, who has no husband to fulfill the role of a father in her home. I pray for the family of the young man accused of assassinating him, and for the young man to come to know the truth of Jesus.
I’ve written so many words yet feel so incapable of expressing my thoughts and prayers. I think you may feel the same way. Only God knows. Only God can. Only God will.
