No picture for attention because this is a serious topic that we don’t like to discuss. I don’t want us to be distracted by pictures. You may label me as a fanatic for writing this but so be it.

I was scrolling through Facebook. There was a picture of a cute little girl. Her mother began talking about how precocious she is. Early language development. Smart. Then she continued to talk about her being reincarnated. She didn’t use that word, but she told things like the child saying she used to be a boy, that she used to be her grandmother, that she missed her old job, that she didn’t want to grow up because she didn’t want to have to be a baby again. She told several other stories about the child describing life from way before she was born. The mother said that they aren’t religious people. The mother thought it was cute and funny. I thought it was scary for the child and the family. I don’t know why I continued to read. Eventually, I stopped before I finished the article. It was spiritually oppressive. I felt an urgent need to turn to scripture and prayer. We are blind and deceived if we do not acknowledge that the devil and his demons are active and deceptive in our world. 

Let me say upfront that I know that there are seizure disorders, autism, mental health issues, cerebral palsy, and other conditions that are medical diagnoses. Scripture confirms this.

Matthew 4:23-25

Amplified Bible

23 And He went throughout all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues and preaching the good news (gospel) of the kingdom, and healing every kind of disease and every kind of sickness among the people [demonstrating and revealing that He was indeed the promised Messiah].

24 So the news about Him spread throughout all Syria; and they brought to Him all who were sick, those suffering with various diseases and pains, those under the power of demons, and epileptics, paralytics; and He healed them. 25 Large crowds followed Him from Galilee and the Decapolis and Jerusalem and Judea and the other side of the Jordan.

Jesus healed every kind of disease and sickness. He also cast out demons. We can understand medical conditions without dismissing the existence of evil and the demonic.

Ephesians 6:12

Amplified Bible

11 Put on the full armor of God [for His precepts are like the splendid armor of a heavily-armed soldier], so that you may be able to [successfully] stand up against all the schemes and the strategies and the deceits of the devil.12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood [contending only with physical opponents], but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this [present] darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly (supernatural) places.

Scripture tells us that our battles are against the deceit of the devil, against powers of darkness. We cannot contend with these forces of evil in our own power. We must depend on God to equip us for this struggle. Paul continues in Ephesians 6 to tell the components of the full armor of God.

Ephesians 6:13-18

Amplified Bible

13 Therefore, put on the complete armor of God, so that you will be able to [successfully] resist and stand your ground in the evil day [of danger], and having done everything [that the crisis demands], to stand firm [in your place, fully prepared, immovable, victorious]. 14 So stand firm and hold your ground, having tightened the wide band of truth (personal integrity, moral courage) around your waist and having put on the breastplate of righteousness (an upright heart), 15 and having strapped on your feet the gospel of peace in preparation [to face the enemy with firm-footed stability and the readiness produced by the good news]. 16 Above all, lift up the [protective] shield of faith with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God.18 With all prayer and petition pray [with specific requests] at all times [on every occasion and in every season] in the Spirit, and with this in view, stay alert with all perseverance and petition [interceding in prayer] for all God’s people.

I felt the need to turn to prayer and scripture because I am incapable of fighting the battle that this mother’s post requires. You aren’t either. As believers we have to submit to the work of God's Spirit in us. Truth. Righteousness. Gospel of Peace. Shield of Faith. Helmet of Salvation. Sword of the Spirit, the Word of God. Pray. As believers we have access to the power of God to fight a battle He has already won. We just have to trust Him and obey His commands. But people who do not know Jesus are open to the attacks of the devil. This mother said they weren’t religious people. Their family has no protection against the deception the devil is bringing to their family. I don’t know them, but I think we should pray for them. We all, or probably at least most of us, know people who do not have a personal relationship with Jesus by accepting His gift of salvation. We absolutely need to pray for them by name. We need to be alert to what is going on around us. We also must be in the Word of  God.  Scripture provides us with the sword, or in our day and time, the bullets, to resist the devil. When the devil tempted Jesus, Jesus responded to the temptations by quoting scripture. Interestingly, the devil also used scripture out of context. (Matthew 4:1-11) That is why it is so important that we study and apply the whole of scripture so that we know the context of the devil's deceptive use of scripture.  The devil and his demons are sly but God will give us the discernment to know His Truth.

1 Corinthians 2:13-15

Amplified Bible

13 We also speak of these things, not in words taught or supplied by human wisdom, but in those taught by the Spirit, combining and interpreting spiritual thoughts with spiritual words [for those being guided by the Holy Spirit]. 14 But the natural [unbelieving] man does not accept the things [the teachings and revelations] of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness [absurd and illogical] to him; and he is incapable of understanding them, because they are spiritually discerned and appreciated, [and he is unqualified to judge spiritual matters]. 15 But the spiritual man [the spiritually mature Christian] judges all things [questions, examines and applies what the Holy Spirit reveals], yet is himself judged by no one [the unbeliever cannot judge and understand the believer’s spiritual nature].

God’s Holy Spirit gives us the ability to discern. Unbelievers do not have that ability. They might read this mother’s story and think it’s sweet. They might even believe that the child is her own dead grandmother. God’s Spirit within us gives us the ability to see the truth.

2 Corinthians 11:14

Amplified Bible

14 And no wonder, since Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light.

This child looks cute and sweet. But that is deceptive. Satan is using her for his purposes.

Hebrews 9:27

Amplified Bible

27 And just as it is appointed and destined for all men to die once and after this [comes certain] judgment,

There is no reincarnation. We are appointed once to die and then the judgment. We live. We die. We spend eternity in Heaven if we have accepted Jesus as Savior and Lord. We spend eternity in Hell with the devil and his demons if we reject Christ.

There is probably much more that needs to be said and heeded about this topic, but for now, we have at least started to think about the significance.
