REPOSTING FROM MY FACEBOOK PAGE DATED FEBRUARY 5, 2026
I always have my quiet time in the morning. I have for years, even when my kids were little. I would get up as early as I needed to so that I could have this time. I understand that other people may not feel this way but let me tell you a story that is funny and sad. Bryan was teaching a class. I don’t even remember what the class was. Possibly for people who had recently joined the church. He was stressing the importance of having a quiet time. As an example, he said, “Mary Lynne gets up at 4:30 every morning so she can have her quiet time before the kids wake up.” A lady in the class responded, “There is nothing worth getting up at 4:30 in the morning.” It is sad that she would so blatantly reject the importance of spending time in Bible study and prayer and a growing relationship with Jesus. I guess it’s funny in a sad kind of way that she would so openly admit that is how she felt. It broke my heart. If anything is worth anything at all, it is our relationship with Jesus. There is absolutely nothing that compares with growing in our fellowship with Him. I think that’s where we get our priorities backwards sometimes.
Nothing. Let that sink in. Absolutely nothing is more important than a growing relationship with Jesus.

I know that some of you may feel like that morning is not your time to spend with God. The point is that it has to be a priority. The most important thing you do all day. Nothing keeps you from spending time with God. No distractions. Hear me out here. Our husbands, children, grandchildren need to know that our time with God is the most important time of the day. If our relationship is not strong with God our relationships with our family are not the kind of strong they need to be. Whatever time you set apart for your quiet time, they need to respect that and let you have undistracted time with God. Listen to David’s words in Psalm 5.

Psalm 5:3
Holman Christian Standard Bible
3 At daybreak, Lord, You hear my voice;
at daybreak I plead my case to You and watch expectantly.
-----
When we begin our day we God, He is a priority throughout our day.
-----
Psalm 25:5
Holman Christian Standard Bible
5 Guide me in Your truth and teach me,
for You are the God of my salvation;
I wait for You all day long.
-----
Psalm 71:8
Holman Christian Standard Bible
8 My mouth is full of praise
and honor to You all day long.
-----
Psalm 63:6
Holman Christian Standard Bible
6 When I think of You as I lie on my bed,
I meditate on You during the night watches
-----
Psalm 119:148
Holman Christian Standard Bible
148 I am awake through each watch of the night
to meditate on Your promise.

All day long. Morning. Night. And all the hours between. Twenty four hours. Our priority, the most important thing in our lives, is Jesus. Think about that.
