Most Important Information
I am pasting part of a letter I wrote to a friend. This information is so important.
The world is full of broken relationships. Families. Friendships. Marriages. But the greatest broken relationship is the one between us and God. And ultimately all broken human relationships are because of our broken relationship with God. What breaks that relationship? Sin. Not just individual sins but the sin nature we are all born with.
Romans 3:23 Holman Christian Standard Bible 23 For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.
Everyone. Absolutely everyone is a sinner who does not meet God’s standards. So, that’s a big problem with our relationship with Him and with others. The next verse explains that.
Romans 6:23 Holman Christian Standard Bible 23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
What we rightly deserve because of our sin is death. Of course everyone eventually dies, but this death is an eternity separated from God in Hell. But this verse doesn’t leave us with just the bad news. It shows us the best news ever. God is willing to give us eternal life, not because we deserve it, but because He loves us. Because Jesus died for us, paid the debt for our sinfulness with His blood, and resurrected from the grave in power.
Romans 5:10 Holman Christian Standard Bible For if, while we were enemies, we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, then how much more, having been reconciled, will we be saved by His life!
Even while our sin made us enemies of God, He loved us so much that He sent Jesus His Son in human form to die for our sin. He did this for a specific reason-to reconcile us to Him. That is such wonderful news. So how does this happen?
Romans 10:9-10 Holman Christian Standard Bible 9 If you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 One believes with the heart, resulting in righteousness, and one confesses with the mouth, resulting in salvation.
When scripture says “Jesus is Lord”, it is showing us that we truly believe, completely trust, and choose to love and obey Him in everything. We believe with confidence that God Himself in human form died to pay the debt for our sin. Just believe. Is there anything we do to earn our forgiveness?
Ephesians 2:8-9 Holman Christian Standard Bible 8 For you are saved by grace through faith, and this is not from yourselves; it is God’s gift— 9 not from works, so that no one can boast.
There is absolutely nothing we can do to earn salvation, redemption, forgiveness. God does it all. We receive this gift when we truly believe and give our lives to Him. This begins a wonderful journey with Him, loving Him, having fellowship with Him, and seeing how He changes our hearts to be more like His.
I began this wonderful journey when I was eight years old. My husband began his journey when he was 19. I have a friend in Sunday School who began her journey when she was 40. I have been people in their 80s accept Christ and begin their earthly journey with Him, having assurance that they will spend eternity in heaven with Him. No matter where you are in your life, it’s not too late. God is waiting for you to turn to Him.
If you have not accepted this amazing gift, please do that now. If you have questions about what this means, seek out someone who can explain more of this to you.
