Praying for our Lost

See these keys. They look like ordinary keys. I found them last week in the pocket of my husband's heavy winter coat. The thing is, that car key is to a vehicle that was totaled about 6 years ago when our son hit a deer.

The other keys are to the house we sold about 7 years ago. He lost those keys when we were at that house making some repairs to get it ready to sell. That's a long story but I will give you the short version. We listed that house when we moved back home after my husband was injured in a wreck caused by a drunk driver. After it didn't sell in a reasonable time, we contracted with the property management agent associated with our realtor to lease it. Turns out their background checks on the man were wrong. He alienated all the neighbors by his behavior. The rental agent was afraid of him, so we were just stuck with a bad renter. Eventually, he moved out and we needed to make repairs to list the house again. We were back there making those repairs when he couldn't find the keys. They were important then. We looked everywhere but couldn't find them anywhere.

We have lost family members who I pray for, who I long to see have the joy and peace of a personal relationship with our Redeemer, Savior, Lord, who died on the cross, resurrected in power and offers us the gift of forgiveness if we believe and accept. They know the Truth but have either rejected Him completely or are apathetic about Him. When others are saying that they are ready for the Lord to return because of the evil in our world, I am praying that He will wait until my loved ones are saved. This verse is my hope daily, and my promise that God is not willing for anyone to perish. He wants everyone to accept His gift.

2 Peter 3:8-9 Holman Christian Standard Bible 8 Dear friends, don’t let this one thing escape you: With the Lord one day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years like one day. 9 The Lord does not delay His promise, as some understand delay, but is patient with you, not wanting any to perish but all to come to repentance.

When I found the keys, this is immediately what I thought. Just because something has been lost for a long time doesn't mean it can't be found. We finally gave up looking for the keys. I wasn't looking for them when I found them. But there they are now on the table on my back porch. I can still hold on to the Word of God that He wants what is lost to Him to be found.

Are you praying for your loved ones to be saved?

Read Luke 15.

Let's not forget to pray for our lost family, friends, acquaintances, and even those we don't even know. Pray for that one lost sheep to return, that one lost coin to be found, that lost child to come home.
