Longing for God
First, when you watch the video below, please ignore the mess. She just chewed up a chunk of firewood. The stepstool in front of the fireplace is because my lazy self sits down to put the firewood in the fireplace. The boxes, well, I haven't put that stuff up yet. So, focus on the dog. Turn the volume up so you can hear her.
This dog loves me. She can't stand it if she isn't with me. She knows to "place" on the cushions on the floor, but she will "talk" to me, begging me to let her sit beside me on the couch.
I've been thinking about this. Am I as desperate to spend time with God? Do I beg Him for just a few more minutes with Him?
Psalm 61:4 New International Version 4 I long to dwell in your tent forever and take refuge in the shelter of your wings
Psalm 63
1 You, God, are my God,
earnestly I seek you;I thirst for you,
my whole being longs for you,
in a dry and parched land
where there is no water.
2 I have seen you in the sanctuary
and beheld your power and your glory.
3 Because your love is better than life,
my lips will glorify you.
Psalm 119:20
New International Version
20 My soul is consumed with longing for your laws at all times.
I pray that my heart will long for God. I tell Him I want to love Him more. Isn't it sad that I even have to ask myself if I long for fellowship with God as much as the dog longs for snuggles on the couch? What about you?
